Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Home > Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Post Date 3-23-2020

This morning, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced the "Stay Home, Stay Safe" Executive Order in reaction to the rising cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state. Taking effect at midnight tonight, the order directs all nonessential offices and businesses to close for the next three weeks. It also directs Michiganders to stay in their homes and avoid contact with others.

Credit unions provide an essential service to their members, especially during times of crisis. Governor Whitmer stressed that critical businesses, including credit unions, will stay open under the "Stay Home, Stay Safe" order.

Although our branch lobbies are closed to limit foot traffic and help prevent the spread of COVID-19, our drive-thru service will remain available during regular business hours at our Plymouth, Livonia, Ann Arbor and Royal Oak offices. We are also providing in-branch service by appointment only under special circumstances. Our Brighton and Macomb offices will remain open to provide in-branch service by appointment only. You can also contact us toll-free at (888) 261-3355 or locally at (734) 455-9200 during regular business hours so we may better assist you.

Once again, we encourage you to manage your accounts from home 24/7 using our Internet Home Banking and Mobile Banking services to view transactions, check balances, transfer funds, make payments and more. You can also deposit checks using the Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) feature that's available on the MichEd Mobile App. You can even make loan payments directly through our website at www.michedcu.org. Our digital tools are designed to be easy to use, empowering you to take control of your MECU accounts no matter where you are. If you're new to these free services, click-thru demos are available on our website so you can try them out before your enroll.

Michigan Educational Credit Union is a well-capitalized financial institution, putting us in a strong position to endure tough times. In fact, we've received national recognition for our financial health. This month we received another 5-Star Superior rating from BauerFinancial, the nation's leading independent bank and credit union rating and research firm. We've received this rating for 113 consecutive quarters, making us a "Best of Bauer Credit Union" for earning this rating for a minimum of 25 years in a row. We've also been named to the DepositAccounts list of the Top 200 Healthiest Credit Unions in America for the past six years.

Stay home, stay safe, and rest assured that your money is safe with Michigan Educational Credit Union. If we all work together, we can make it through this.
